Active Matter is out now on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

Gaijin Entertainment and Matter Team announce that Active Matter, a hardcore online shooter set in the fractured multiverse, is available for purchase now on Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, as well as at Gaijin Store for PC. Active Matter combines realistic modern military gunplay with a strange and unpredictable world where the very fabric of reality is shattered. Players take on the role of operatives venturing into quantum-unstable zones in search of active matter – an incredibly valuable substance capable of distorting space and gravity. Players who purchased the Early Version of Active Matter through the Gaijin Store can claim access to the Steam version at no additional cost and can link their progress between the Gaijin and Steam versions.

Active Matter is available in three editions: Standard, Advanced and Deluxe. The Standard Edition provides everything needed to begin exploring the multiverse, including a substantial selection of weapons, ammunition, armor and medical supplies. The Advanced Edition expands the starting arsenal, while the Deluxe Edition offers the largest package with unique customizations and cosmetic items. Any edition is more than enough to progress through the whole game with plenty of opportunities to get or lose weapons and gear, and ultimately only the player skill decides how long that would take.

In Active Matter, players can embark on dangerous PvPvE and PvE raids, clash with other operatives in dedicated PvP battles, explore ruined realities and gather valuable items. Raids feature a constant risk-versus-reward decision between pushing deeper into the zone in search of better loot and extracting early to make sure you do not lose what you have on you right now. Each expedition can lead to encounters with gravity-defying anomalies, mysterious SCP-style objects and creatures transformed by active matter, while death will send an operative back into another iteration of the fractured multiverse.

Weapons and equipment are firmly rooted in real-world military technology. Players can build an extensive arsenal of assault rifles, sniper rifles, shotguns, machine guns and other firearms, and customize them in detail with authentic sights, suppressors and other modifications. Drones, civilian and military vehicles will also prove useful while exploring the environments where gravity can suddenly turn the battlefield vertical and seemingly harmless objects can become deadly threats.

At launch, operatives can explore radically different and huge locations scattered across the fractured multiverse, ranging from the abandoned science facilities on a Soviet restricted island and Central African quarantine zone to the abandoned streets of a ruined American metropolis. Future updates will bring even more strange shards of reality, eerie monsters and iconic weapons.

The game also features a soundtrack spanning more than a hundred tracks from independent composers, invited artists and licensed musicians. Among its contributors is legendary composer Akira Yamaoka, whose music helped shape the atmosphere of some of gaming’s most iconic psychological horror experiences. Soundtrack is available for purchase on Steam (separately or as a part of the Deluxe Edition), and will be made available on major streaming platforms as well.
